About Ereba Collective, LLC.
Ereba Collective, LLC gathers and shares educational materials that promote and celebrate cultural heritage preservartion. Our name, Ereba, reflects the deep cultural significance of a traditional Garifuna food made from cassava (yuca, manihot esculenta), known as casabe in Spanish. The preparation of ereba is an ancestral practice, passed down through generations and sustained primarily by Garifuna women.
Understanding ereba means recognizing the broader cultural landscape it represents. Garifuna identity is rooted in a rich Afro-Indigenous heritage, shaped by West African, Taíno, and Arawak ancestry. This heritage is expressed through language, music, dance, and foodways that have been preserved and celebrated for centuries.
At Ereba Collective LLC., we honor these traditions by promoting lifelong learning grounded in diverse socio-historical perspectives. We encourage critical thinking through the exploration of both local and global cultural practices, and we foster civic engagement by uplifting the unique voices and histories of our communities.
